How does a parachute jump work?
Types of launch
- I launch at once.This is the simplest and most common way to get started. You'll be paired with an experienced instructor who will supervise every step of the jump, from exiting the plane to landing. If you'd like to book a jump at the Skydiving Academy in Casale Monferrato, you can do so by Who.
- AFF (Accelerated Free Fall): More advanced training course. You jump alone, but with one or more instructors following you in free fall during the initial stages.
- Static Line (Constraint Line): Military or beginner training method. The parachute opens using a tether attached to the aircraft.
Launch phases
- Briefing and preparation on the ground: Learn safety positions and basic instructions.
- Flight by plane: They reach altitudes of 3,000-4,000 metres.
- Free fall: Lasts approximately 50-60 seconds if thrown from 4,000 meters.
- Parachute Opening and Landing: It occurs around 1,500 meters above the ground and thanks to the instructor's instructions (in tandem) or training (if AFF jump).
Launch duration from 4,000 meters
The free fall lasts approximately 60 seconds, followed by 5-7 minutes of open parachute flight. In total, about 10 minutes of pure adrenaline!
Minimum age for parachuting
Generally, 16+ with parental consent. However, some schools require students to be 18+.
Who can't go skydiving?
- People with serious heart problems or significant lung disease.
- People with neurological disorders or physical conditions that prevent the correct throwing position.
- Pregnant women (it is advisable to wait until after giving birth).
- In all cases of doubt, ask your instructor.
